“ELEPHANT IN THE DARK” is a series of blindfold walk performances. The project is supported by The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture- AFAC, in collaboration with Red Oak.
The first performance took place at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MACAM) in collaboration with a blind person. Blindfolded participants needed her “eyes” to “see”.
During the second performance, participants walked blindfolded at night in the beautiful nature of MACAM. Sighted performers/dancers interacted with the blindfolded participants, who in their turn, became performers.
The last performance was held at the National Museum of Beirut in collaboration with the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA). Students in visual arts were introduced to the aesthetics of touch and experienced a blindfold tactile visit of the archeological objects of the museum.
